" I went over the Grossglockner High-Alpine Road with a max altitude of 2600m. I could stop bicycling right now, there is no way to go beyond this experience.

To my total surprise, I was greeted with "Welcome back, nice to see you again" in a tiny ristorante in Treviso, which i visited at trips in 2023 and 2024. My enthusiasm for their great cooking seems to had left a lasting impression ;-)
My actual route is shown in blue. The yellow dots indicate my overnight stays.
In total, I covered 875km and 12,000m of elevation gain. That includes the walking and the commutes to the train stations. In 2024, I climbed 6,000m from Venice via the Brenner Pass to Bad Tölz, and in 2023, I climbed 8,000m from Venice to Garmisch. So, I've found a route with chest hair, and I shouldn't be surprised that I didn't manage any 100km daily stages.
The tour went really well again. I would definitely avoid spending the night in Zell am See and the cycle path between Toblach and Lienz, which the tour operators have converted into a cycling funfair. My culinary highlights were Venice with the Cantinone Storico on the Lateral Canal, Treviso with MICHI Ristorante, the Da Febo Albergo on Lago di Redona, and the Kaiserschmarrn at the Bartewirt near Valley. The scenic highlights were definitely the many tunnels, bridges, and climbs up to the Sella di Rioda, the cycle paths near Auronzone and Cortina, and, by a stroke of luck, the almost empty Grossglocker High Alpine Road with its traffic-free approach via the Alte Glockerstraße! I needed my rain gear almost every day, but it never rained for much more than an hour straight—so the weather was perfect."
