Prof. Luigi Lavazza
Prof. Luigi Lavazza is associate professor at the University of Insubria at Varese, Department of computer science and communication. Formerly he was assistant professor at the Dipartimento di Elettronica e Informazione of Politecnico di Milano, Italy.
Since 1990 he cooperates with CEFRIEL (ICT Center of Excellence For Research, Innovation, Education & industrial Labs partnership). CEFRIEL is the centre of excellence of Politecnico di Milano for research, innovation and education in Information and Communication Technology, devoted to strengthen the connections between research and industry both nationally and internationally.
At CEFRIEL he led several research projects as well as several consultancy activities and technology transfer initiatives in the field of Software Engineering.
His research interests include: Software process modelling, measurement and improvement; the measurement of software products, especially concerning quality and the functional size; Model based development, especially concerning real-time and embedded software; Requirements engineering and software development environments and tools.
He participated in several research projects co-funded by the European Union or by the Italian government, often guiding the research unit of CEFRIEL or of the researchers of the University of Insubria at Varese.
Among the projects in which Luigi Lavazza participated are: project MIUR QUACK(A Platform for the Quality of New Generation Integrated Embedded Systems), project ESSI CEMP (Customized Establishment of Measurement Programs), and several EU-funded projects (like MIDAS – Measurable Improvement of development, deployment and operation of interbank Automation Software, SACHER - Sensitivity Analysis and CHange management support for Evolving Requirements, and QualiPSo - Quality Platform for Open Source Software).
He has been member of the Program Committee of the International Conference on Engineering Complex Computer Systems (ICECCS) in 1997 and 1998; of the Software Engineering and Applications Conference (SEA) in 2005; of the International Workshop on Advances and Applications of Problem Frames in 2006 and 2008; of the International Workshop on the Applications and Advances of Problem-Orientation (IWAAPO) 2010; of the International Conference on Advanced Engineering Computing and Applications in Sciences (ADVCOMP) since 2007 to 2011; of the International Conference on Software Engineering Advances (ICSEA) since 2009 to 2011; of the International Conference on Open Source Systems (OSS) 2011; of the European Conference on Information Management and Evaluation (ECIME) 2011; of the International Symposium on Empirical Software Engineering and Measurement (ESEM) 2011.
He is co-author of over 100 scientific articles, published in international journals, or in the proceedings of international conferences or in books.
He also served as reviewer of ESPRIT and IST projects, and of international journals and conferences such as IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology, ICSE (International Conference on Software Engineering), ESEC (European Software Engineering Conference), Software: Practice and Experience (Wiley), Software Process Improvement and Practice (Wiley), Automated Software Engineering (Kluwer), FASE (Fundamental Approaches to Software Engineering), Empirical Software Engineering Journal (Kluwer), FSE (Foundations of Software Engineering), Software and System Modeling (Springer-Verlag), The Journal of Systems and Software (Wiley-Blackwell), Expert Systems – The Journal of Knowledge Engineering (Elsevier), International Journal on Software Tools for Technology Transfer (Springer-Verlag), The Computer Journal (The British Computer Society), Information Processing Letters (Elsevier).
